Remote Learning: During periods of remote learning when students are not in-person at school, instructional and therapeutic services are provided digitally via virtual online platforms.

Students come to CHC Learning Center with a wide range of complex health needs. Often a student is dependent on medical technology and nursing care.
All therapies and nursing services address students’ access to the academic curriculum and school functions. The focus is to maximize students’ potential and participation in the educational program throughout the school day.
CHC Learning Center is a program of The Center For Handicapped Children, Inc. As an approved New York State Education Department (NYSED) private school, CHC serves students with special needs and provides caring support for their families.

CHC Learning Center’s Physical Therapy Services focus on increasing students’ skills in order to enhance their educational experience. Some concentrated areas include improving students’ range of motion, strength, endurance, balance, coordination, proper positioning, utilization of recommended adaptive equipment, and mobility skills.

A long term resident of the Buffalo area, Michael graduated from Bishop Turner High School and Canisius College. He recently retired from Erie Community College where he served as the Director of the Career Resource Center providing career planning and placement services in a three campus population of over 21,000 students.
The School-Age Program at CHC utilizes an adapted curriculum, incorporating a multisensory approach that relies on the student’s performance indicators to demonstrate learning.. Order gift cards for stores, restaurants, gas, movies, etc. CHC receives a percentage of the gift card’s value. Order forms are sent home during November and December, but large orders can be placed at any time.

Volunteers and student interns are encouraged to join the staff of CHC Learning Center throughout the school year and during the summer sessions to provide educational programs for students with multiple disabilities.
